LEAH LaCROIX

A dedicated public servant and policy advocate, Leah LaCroix has been fighting for the youth of San Francisco since her own teens - for transportation, food security, and student needs. She entered SF State as a sophomore thanks to CCSF’s high school dual enrollment program. Leah believes that City College is one of San Francisco’s most powerful engines of economic justice and her highest priority is investing in our students.

The only candidate running for City College Board who has held citywide office, Leah was elected to the local Democratic Party from 2016-24, serving as First Vice Chair and Parliamentarian. During her tenure, Leah focused primarily on voter registration and education. Leah has also been part of the California State Central Committee (CA Democratic Party). She currently serves on the board of directors for Mama G’s Street Dinners in the Tenderloin.

As a Youth Commissioner, Leah championed Free Muni for Youth and worked to ensure it was permanently funded. She’ll bring the same fierce determination to defending CCSF for our students and employees.

A staunchly pro-labor candidate with a history of active union membership, Leah’s vision for City College’s future includes greater public input and oversight to increase transparency, growing course offerings to reestablish trust with the students who need them, and collaborating on a long-term plan for the board to secure stability. She believes this can be best achieved by steering away from corporate management philosophies. Above all, Leah sees CCSF as a public good that must serve students from all backgrounds and provide students the resources designed to help them succeed.

Leah is endorsed by CCSF Board of Trustees Susan Solomon, Vick Chung, and Anita Martinez, as well as Supervisors Connie Chan, Myrna Melgar, Chyanne Chen, Shamann Walton, and Jackie Fielder, and, former Supervisors Sophie Maxwell, Aaron Peskin, Norman Yee and Jane Kim.

TRANSPORTATION

Leah LaCroix is the legislative architect and champion of Free Muni for Youth. She authored the resolution calling on the Board of Supervisors and SFMTA to create and fund this program, and fiercely led the advocacy effort alongside her peers, both locally and at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. Leah also secured funding from Google for the pilot program and pushed for it to become permanent, a multi-year, youth-led community effort. She's thrilled to see it grow further, expanding to Transitionally Aged Youth, with Muni now also free for seniors and people with disabilities.
